I am Rescue
I pick up your castoffs and hold them in my arms;
I unhook with your permission your castoffs from their
chains and abandonment;
I take your castoffs to be medically treated, altered
and brought back to health;
I remind your castoffs of what commands they once knew
or teach them what they should know;
I gently wash away the stench and smell and dirt
accumulated on your castoffs and kiss them gently;
I foster your castoffs and try not to fall too far in
love with them so that I can let go when that forever home is found;
I wipe away my own tears when the day comes that your
castoff
leaves me to go live a forever life in a loving
environment; and
... sometimes I hold that regal dignified furry head
of your
castoff while he makes the final trip to the Bridge
and tell him
that he is loved at this moment more than he has ever
been
loved before. ...
I am RESCUE.
