I often used to tell you as you rooted through the
bin,
You will never go to heaven for to steal is such a
sin.
You thought it fun to roll in mud, to jump in every
pool,
But would you come to take a bath? *As stubborn as a
mule!*
I sometimes used to ask you why,
When something else you’d chew,
*of all the dogs in all the world I’d ended up with
you’.
And now the years have slipped away,
Your heart it beats no more,
I sit beside your empty bed,
Your paw prints on the floor.
And as my heart it breaks in two
One truth with which I’m blessed,
There’s one more dog in Heaven now,
My friend … you were the best!
