School Daze

It's the strangest morning ever; not really sure what's up.
Trying to figure this whole thing out. I sure am one confused pup.
Everyone went to bed early last night; the kids were all in a bad mood.
Mom is up super early fixing everyone breakfast food.

Not really sure what is happening or what might even lay in store.
I am going to stay under the table and wait for bacon to hit the floor.
The kids are all wearing new clothes and brand named shoes on their feet.
Mom just tossed me some scrambled egg for an early morning treat!

The bookbags and backpacks are on the table. The bathroom is busy as can be.
Grumpy kids in a really bad mood. What a sight to see!
No talk of riding bikes today or hanging out by the pool.
I think I finally figured it out! This must be the first day of school!

Mom is yelling hurry it up. She really is making a fuss.
What's that noisy thing coming down the hill? Oh no, that's the kid’s school bus!
Everyone’s running out the door. Mom doesn't think it is funny.
Especially when she is running down the driveway yelling, “Don’t forget your lunch money!”

Finally everyone is on the bus. The driver is shaking her head.
Probably wishing she was back at home relaxing in her bed!
Too quiet in this house today. Mom doesn't seem to mind at all.
I guess summer is almost over, giving way to the season called fall.

I hope the kids are doing ok at school. Mom told them they would be fine.
What seems like hard times for them today are actually the best of times!!
