Reminiscing

I remember the day you brought me home. What a lucky day for me.
I had no idea how special the rest of my life would be!
You are my best friend ever. We make a perfect fit.
You taught me all I needed to know like how to stay and sit.

You put up with a lot from me, back when I was a pup,
Like accidents on the carpet and those important papers I tore up.
Life is all about lessons, as I got older I learned;
you only corrected me because you loved me and used your voice that was firm.

For years you have spoiled me rotten. You put up with a lot from me.
Like the problem I have, I just can't resist, when you get up and I steal your seat!
I love you lying next to me, the feel of your gentle touch.
There is no way to thank you for your kindness, for me you have done way too much.

As I come to the end of my journey and my time is drawing near.
I want you to do one more thing for me, say goodbye with a smile and happy tears.
Remember our fun times together that we had right from the start.
You may not feel me lying beside you, but I will ALWAYS be alive in your heart!!
