Kürbisschnitzen mit Wau-Faktor

Für alle, die gerne für Halloween Kürbis(se) schnitzen, möchte ich den Hinweis auf eine Internetseite weitergeben, die ich bei einem Hundefutterhersteller meiner Wahl gefunden habe. Neben einer Anleitung und Tipps werden auch 15 tolle Schnitzvorlagen als Druckvorlagen zum Download angeboten:

Belloweenkekse (Kürbiskekse für Hunde)

Herbstzeit ist Kürbiszeit und da Kürbis auch für Hunde lecker und gesund ist, habe ich ein Rezept für Kürbiskekse ausprobiert:

Zutaten

200 gr Dinkelmehl

250 gr Hokkaido-Kürbis

100 gr Hüttenkäse

ca. 50 gr Käse (Käse nicht zu fett oder zu salzig)

Zubereitung

Kürbis in 2 Hälften teilen und Kerne entfernen (geht sehr gut mit einem Esslöffel)
Kürbis (muss nicht geschält werden) in kleinere Stücke schneiden und auf ein mit Backpapier oder Dauerbackmatte ausgelegtes Backblech legen
Kürbisstücke mit etwas Sonnenblumenöl beträufeln und dann 12-15 Minuten bei 180 Grad in den Backofen
Anschließend die Stücke in einer Schüssel mit dem Käse und dem Hüttenkäse pürieren
Püree ganz leicht abkühlen lassen, dann nach und nach das Dinkelmehl hinzufügen (der Teig sollte nicht mehr kleben, ggf. etwas mehr Mehl hinzufügen)
Den Teig in Klarsichtfolie wickeln und 20 Minuten im Kühlschrank kalt stellen
Den Teig zwischen zwei Klarsichtfolien ausrollen, danach ausstechen oder in kleine Vierecke teilen (geht gut mit einem Pizzaroller)
Erneut Backpapier oder Dauerbackmatte auf das Backblech, die Kekse darauf legen
Bei 160° ca. 15 Minuten backen, nach dem Ausschalten des Ofens (bis er abgekühlt ist) die Kekse darin belassen, um sie nachzutrocknen

A dog’s last will and testament

Before humans die, they write their last will and testament,

Give their home and all they have to those they leave behind.

If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’ ask …

To a poor and lovely stray I’d give my happy home:

my bowl and cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys;

the lap, which I loved so much;

the hand that stroked my for;

and the sweet voice that spoke my name.

I’d will to the sad, scared shelter dog the place I had in my

Human’s loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.

So, when I die, please do not say: “I will never have a pet again,

for the loss and pain is more than I can stand.”

Instead, go find an unloved do, one whose life has held no

joy or hope, and give my place to him.

This is the only thing I can give …

Missing you (The empty space here on my bed)

What am I supposed to do about the empty space here on my bed?

And what about this special pillow where you used to lay your head?

What about all these squeak toys that got on my nerves all the time?

I wish you were still here to chew them that would be soothing to these ears of mine.

And what about this food bowl? For years it’s been here on the floor.

I can't bring myself to put it away; my heart is just way too torn!

I messed up today as I went outside. It really was a shame.

I am so used to you going out with me; I actually called out your name.

I was just a pup when we first met, I loved you from the start,

you picked me up and took me home and placed me in your heart.

Good times we had together, we shared all life could throw,

but years passed all too quickly, my time has come to go.

I know how much you miss me, I know your heart is sore,

I see the tears that fall when I’m not Waiting at the Door.

You always did your best for me your love was plain to see,

for even though it broke your heart you set my spirit free.

So please be brave without me, one day we’ll meet once more,

I know that you can’t see me

Ole Roy (We all have that "look")

We all have that "look”. Sort of a bond you see.

The same look I see in you, you also see in me!

The look of a dog owner is exactly what I mean,

from the mud on our shoes to the holes in our jeans!

Bloodshot eyes, uncombed hair, rain poncho by the door for us to wear!

Lint rollers laying around for everyone to use, if a sweater with no fur is for that day what we choose.

Dogangelversary

Dogangelversary … This word devotes the annual date of a dogs death. This day is just as important to a bereaved dog parent as a birthday (or the day of the arrival of the dog). So it is different than a regular birthday. While “anniversary” might work, that often seems to celebratory a word for this kind of day. Dogangelversary is our answer to describing this most difficult day.

Information about the origin of the poem:

“The poem was left in an envelope addressed by a soldier on active service in Northern Ireland. It was addressed to his parents and was to be opened in the event of his death. At first, it was thought that the soldier himself had written by the poem, but this was not the case. Various claims were made for it but the author remained an unsolved mystery until in 1990 Mary Elizabeth Frye revealed that she had written it. Mrs Frye, an American housewife and florist wrote the poem, on a brown paper bag in 1932. She had circulated a few copies to friends who enjoyed the poem but never claimed copyright, hence the difficulty in establishing authorship.Following an investigation, in 1998 authorship was formally attributed to her.”

My House – My Dog – My Rules

(1) This is the dog’s home, not yours, so show some respect. If you have been invited around, then you know me well enough to know I am a dog lover.

(2) If you want to sit down, find an empty seat. Don’t expect the dog to move.

(3) If you don’t want to get covered in dog hair, then don’t sit down, bring a lint roller or strip off at the door (although I rather hope you don’t).

The Kitty Klause (I have this friend)

I have this friend. He's kinda strange you see.

He spends a lot of his time, up in the trees.

He doesn't make a barking sound. I guess it's more like a squeak.

One time he jumped on mom’s waterbed and made it spring a leak.

This guy is always licking his self with his leg up in the air.

There is no way possible his tongue isn’t full of hair.

He is a cross between a cactus and furry like a baby fox.

The weirdest thing about him is he poo poo's in a box!

Mein Heim – Mein Hund – Meine Regeln

(1) Dies ist das Heim meines Hundes, nicht deins, also zeig etwas Respekt. Wenn du eingeladen wurdest, dann kennst du mich gut genug, um zu wissen, dass ich ein Hundeliebhaber bin.

(2) Wenn du dich setzen willst, finde einen leeren Sitzplatz. Erwarte nicht, dass der Hund für dich Platz macht.

(3) Wenn du keine Hundehaare an deiner Kleidung haben willst, dann setz dich nicht hin, bring einen Fusselroller mit oder zieh dich an der Tür aus (obwohl ich hoffe, du machst das nicht).

(4) Bitte mich nicht, den Hund aus einem Zimmer zu entfernen; würdest du jemanden bitten, sein Kind auf dem Dachboden unterzubringen, wenn du vorbeikommst?

(5) Wenn du allergisch auf Hunde bist, dann ist das nicht mein Problem, nimm eine Pille und hör auf zu jammern. Oder besser noch, komm nicht vorbei.

(6) Verscheuch den Hund nicht, wenn der Hund beschließt, Hallo zu sagen, bitte sei nicht unhöflich, oder ich werde dich zur Tür hinaus scheuchen.

(7) Wenn der Hund sich entscheidet, auf dir zu sitzen, fühl dich geehrt, nicht verärgert. Wenn du den Hund verärgerst, dann werde ich dich zum Teufel jagen. Ich habe dich gewarnt.

(8) Es ist nicht nötig, mir deine Meinung dazu zu sagen, dass dem Hund erlaubt ist, auf dem Sofa zu sitzen, im Bett zu schlafen usw. Siehe Regel Nummer 1.

(9) Zu sagen "es ist nur ein Hund" ist für mich beleidigend, der Hund ist Teil meiner Familie, ich liebe und respektiere meine ganze Familie, auch die mit vier Beinen.

(10) Last but not least, denk immer daran: Ich ziehe den Hund dir vor.

5 great tips to help you save money on your pooch

(1) Make your dog's shampoo last longer.

Most dog shampoos are actually intended to be diluted with water ... but the manufacturers count on you not reading the label! Next time it's bath time, pour a little shampoo into a plastic pitcher, add plenty of water, and use the diluted shampoo to lather your pup. You'll use way less (and save money) over time.

(2) Mix your own pet-safe cleanser.

Pet-safe cleaning products can get expensive. We use them, but we also like to make our own natural cleaner from time to time. We just combine baking soda and vinegar - it's perfect for cleaning many types of pet-related messes!
