Wichtige Informationen / Important information:

This blog is not only a collection for all of you who, like me, love poems, texts and simply everything about dogs, it is also intended to give recognition to all authors and artists who with their work give us great pleasure, sometimes solace and who also want to open our eyes to the abuse and neglect of animals.

This is what Grief feels like

Don’t judge it
Don’t rush it
Don’t dismiss it
Don’t suppress it
There is no Rulebook for Grief.
It comes in waves. And tonight I pray for the ones who feel as though they’re drowning.

Quote

A dog defines another being from who they are inside. Colour, class and popularity don’t come into it. They don’t care if your wealthy or how sociable you are. They really don’t mind if you have a bad day and bundle into a blanket without saying a word. Point being, the best friend I need around me is a dog. A pure hearted, devoted, selfless, excitable canine

Nothing you love is lost

Nothing you love is lost. Not really.

Things, people, pets, they always go away sooner or later. You can’t hold them anymore than you can hold the moonlight.

But if they’ve touched you, if they’re inside you, then they’re still yours.

The only things you ever really have are the ones you hold inside your heart.

The truest form of love

The truest form of love is where you are able to put your own needs aside to do what is best for the one you love. If you knew where I am now and if you love as you say you do, you would never ever wish me back from the love and the comfort and the bliss of where I am and where I wait for you.

(Jack McAfghan, from “Return from Rainbow Bridge”)

Quotes by Gene Hill

I can’t think of anything that brings me closer to tears than when my old dog – completely exhausted after a hard day in the field – limps away from her nice spot in front of the fire and comes over to where I’m sitting and puts her head in my lap, a paw over my knee, and closes her eyes, and goes back to sleep. I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve that kind of friend.

Who said you can not buy happiness, when you are thinking about puppies

No one can fully understand the meaning of love unless he’s owned a dog. A dog can show you more honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes.

We never really own a dog as much as he owns us.

If you have done much chasing of bobwhite quail, you will recall days when you could not hit a flushing blanket with all four corners going in different directions. And when, after repeated misses, one of the old dogs turned from his lingering point and indignantly stared at you. Under such circumstances, I have seen a variety of eyes eloquently pleading for me to get on the stick or go home and sign up for skeet lessons.

Grief

It's not the kind of sadness to where you cry all the time, but more of like the sadness that overwhelms your entire body, leaving your heart aching and your stomach empty.
Making you feel week and tired.
And yet you can't even sleep because the sadness is in your dreams too.
It's almost a sadness you can't escape.
