Wichtige Informationen / Important information:

This blog is not only a collection for all of you who, like me, love poems, texts and simply everything about dogs, it is also intended to give recognition to all authors and artists who with their work give us great pleasure, sometimes solace and who also want to open our eyes to the abuse and neglect of animals.

My name is Chester

Hello, my name is Chester,
My family calls me Chet,
I am about to tell you,
The most amazing story yet,
Let me tell you about
My wonderful family
It consists of my mom and dad,
And a precious girl named Emily,
Some people call Emily special,
Others use a really bad name,
I just do what comes natural to a dog,
We love everyone the same
Emily is five years old now,
Her life started out a bit rough,
The family she was born into
Were going through times that were tough,
They said they didn't have what it takes,
To raise such a special girl,
So they put her up for something called adoption,
Thats when mom and dad entered her world,
My parents are really caring people,

The tale of Noushy

I share this because it touches my heart and I hope someone in the UK has a place for Noushka.

*****

The tale of Noushy

She is loved by people, and always well fed.
She has plenty of bones and a big squishy bed.
But one thing she longs for and try as we might
Is a forever home, to lay her head down at night

See the thing is with Noushy, through no fault of her own.
She came to the Centre so she'd not be alone.
For over two years, she's watched and she's waited.
Two years too long for her life to be wasted!

She's watched the small and the young, come in and then go.
Done her best to 'wow' people, but so far's it’s a no.
The staff know her well, her quirks and her ways.
It's been a long time for bonding, 730 days!

In the morning she sings you the most delightful 'song',
But her eyes give a look to say "what have i done wrong?"
She may be big and look somewhat hard
But she hops like a bunny all over the yard.

She'll wander the forest at a leisurely pace
But take a wrong turn, and she'll direct you with haste.
Noushy walks with all dogs, the big and the small
But give her some space, to play fetch with her ball.

She's smart and she's bored, so the staff try their best.
Every puzzle feeder and kong have been put to the test.
She is such a sweet girl with so much to give,
She's looking for her family, not just somewhere to live.

And because nobody should spend Christmas alone,
Please share far and wide ...
Let’s find Noushy her home.

If you would like to meet Noushka, please call or pay us a visit. We know she’d love to meet you!

A homeless pet's Holiday dream

Shelter compiles exact reasons for huge spike in surrenders after Christmas

Last year [2016], the Dogs Trust rehoming centers in Glasgow and West Calder, Scotland received 703 calls from pet owners looking to surrender their dogs in the weeks immediately following the holidays.

Staff members fielded excuses such as “I got him as a secret Santa present” and “She wags her tail far too much.”

The owners were clearly unmoved by the rescue’s slogan “A dog is for life, not just for Christmas.”

Please come to me I miss you

Day by day I wait but, you never arrive.
What did I do to deserve all this torture?
I still sit on the side of the road where you first left me ...
Will you return? I believed you would. Did you? No.
I thought, maybe, you just dropped me here to stay for a few minutes.
You opened the car door and got me out ... But, then you didn't come.
You slammed the car door and drove off, leaving me behind.
I am greet by unfamiliar and unfriendly obstacles.
Where is my saviour? I thought you cared.
But, who wants me now? A traumatized, rib thin, bloody wounded dog belongs nowhere.
I had done nothing wrong. How could you leave me here?
My shattered heart dosn't want to live.
Why didn't you just shoot me instead of making me suffer so much neglect?
I didn't know what it was to feel so alone.
I'm by myself more then you could know. If only you were alone.
I remember the first time we met.
I was a bouncy puppy hopping around with no problems.
I remember you picked me up and said "your mine Max".
I miss your voice. Your soothing voice that made all the pain go away.
You took me home and fixed me up. I loved you so much. Life was good.
The time I ripped up your couch and you tried to yell at me but, laughed and ended up hugging me.
I was lonely when we first met. Since you moved out of your parents house with me into a small, dirty apartment and had no time for me.
I was exited and you were bored. "Shut up dog!" She had forgotten my name.
"Shut the **** up you filthy mutt!" You yelled after.
I heard you swearing under your breath about "that stupid dog" and the love was gone.
You grabbed my collar and shoved me into the car.
Driving through the darkness, I could sense something was wrong.
You were speeding and then we came to a stop.
The door opened and then you pushed me out.
Then you sped away. I waited.
Why didn't you come out? Did I do something wrong?
I was broken, you left me.
I had to adjust to the few amounts of food.
A muffin liner, a banana peel, anything I could find became the meal of the day.
My bed was the ground. Or a trash bag.
Nobody wanted me and when people with ANIMAL CONTROL printed on their shirts came, I ran.
Even thought I could've found another master, I didn't want anybody else.
If I couldn't have, then I didn't want to have anybody.
I spend my nights at the same spot you dumped me out at.
I still believe you'll come. You'll realize what a sick-minded mistake you made and get me.
My hair is falling out and my muzzle is turning white and gray.
I've lost my glossy puppy coat and exchanged it for a course, wired, thin fur coat that doesn’t warm me.
I am covered in feces and mud.
My hips are starting to hurt and my knees are cramped up terribly.
I still drag myself to the same spot you left me.
No matter what after 10 years of abandonment I still believe that you will come here and be mine.
So please come get me. I'm gonna die soon and I want my last moments of breath with you. I need you more right now then I ever did!!!!

Letter from Pit Bull’s rescuer to her former owner is as heartbreaking as it is heartwarming

After a Pit Bull was abandoned by her former owner in an apartment in New York she was taken to a shelter. The dog named Cathy had been used for breeding and been badly abused. Although her future looked bleak, she was rescued and recovered thanks to her new family. Her new guardian wrote this open letter on Manhattan’s Craigslist to Cathy’s former owner. It’s a truly heartwarming account of Cathy’s life after her rescue:

“3 yrs ago you were evicted from [address redacted, eds.]. I have your dog. (Lower East Side)

“On Feb 9th 2011, you were evicted from an apartment at [number redacted] Catherine St and your old red pit bull was seized by animal control and taken to the kill shelter. She was really skinny and had bad skin infections, and had been bred A LOT. She’d even had a Caesarian, judging by the scar. They said at the kill shelter she was 12 years old. She also had a lopsided face and it looked like there were a few cigarette burns on her head/ears.”
