Wichtige Informationen / Important information:

This blog is not only a collection for all of you who, like me, love poems, texts and simply everything about dogs, it is also intended to give recognition to all authors and artists who with their work give us great pleasure, sometimes solace and who also want to open our eyes to the abuse and neglect of animals.

I’m working to find the writers. If you do find your own work here, I would be grateful for an appropriate message. Then I’ll add a note (and/or a link) or will remove the text immediately. I look forward to hearing from you.

Ole Roy (We all have that "look")

We all have that "look”. Sort of a bond you see.
The same look I see in you, you also see in me!
The look of a dog owner is exactly what I mean,
from the mud on our shoes to the holes in our jeans!

Bloodshot eyes, uncombed hair, rain poncho by the door for us to wear!
Lint rollers laying around for everyone to use, if a sweater with no fur is for that day what we choose.

I guess that works both ways, a hassle for the dog too.
If one of his buds at the dog park says, hey man you have human hair on you!
Getting clothes out of the dryer is always a treat,
When that dog snack you left in your pocket now looks like minced meat.

It's really worse than when I was married, the little things I have to do.
Instead of leaving the seat down, now it's the seat and the potty lid too!
The one time I forget to do it this part really is the worst.
I hear the sound of glug, glug, glug, as Ole Roy is quenching his thirst!

I run in to catch him in the act, as I scream, " Come on man!"
While I wipe up the excess dribble, he's in the kitchen going through the trash can!
As I pry the can of ravioli from his mouth, he wants to play tug of war.
As the last piece of Chef Boy Ardee ends up on my just mopped floor!

That's it I am going to take a nap. Some alone time is what I need.
As he rams his head into the door, this dog must always be near me!
I open the door just a little; he gives me that look we all know.
That look that pierces every dog lover’s heart and deep into your spirit it goes.

It's as if he is saying I'm sorry, I never mean any harm.
Can I jump up in your bed and snuggle in your arms?
We fall asleep together; a dog lover’s heart is true.
As I try to get rejuvenated, and prepare for round number two!
